Reality and Image

Is who you are different from who you portray to be? Is the real you different from what others see?

I am looking at Amanda Bynes and my mind went on the whole Disney child-actor thing. In the Mickey Mouse club you had to have an image, I guess, of purity. You acted in their movies and you had to maintain a certain way about you. Maybe today it is different, I do not know. Not blaming Disney.

On the flip side, if you acted, portrayed, or did the opposite of “purity” then you got an image of being fast, wild, and loose when in reality you were not.

So it is with certain people in the entertainment business around the world. You may be in box A when you really are living out of box B. Or vice versa.

And so it is with certain people not in the entertainment business but the so-called average, everyday people. You and me.

Who are we really? If you know, kudos.

If you are masked then . . .

“We wear the mask that grins and lies,

It hides our cheeks and shades our eyes–

This debt we pay to human guile; . . .” Paul Laurence Dunbar

Have a happy summer. 🙂

Love you. Take care. 🙂

Add Amanda Bynes to your prayer list.
