Truth Pill

Every politician needs one.

This is in no way to say that we do not.

They seem to need it more.

The “weather” outside is . . . 🙂

If You Are Happy,

and you know it.

“Make happy those who are near, and those who are far will come.” Chinese Proverb

Life Matters. Oh yeah. 🙂

Be Angry

Then what?

Control it.

Fame and Success

“Money can buy fame, but it can’t buy talent.” Hannah Moscovitch

When To Lie?

Scenario. Wife asks husband, “Does this make me look fat?” or “Am I fat?”

Husband replies, “No dear.” or “Anything you wear makes you look beautiful.”

He is lying, and perhaps she knows that. But she does not correct him. Why?

Do we have a diplomatic attitude sometimes when dealing with people? You know when to say the right things and how to say them.  Also when to withhold the truth, in other words, when to lie.

Which would you prefer, people giving it to you straight, that is, not lying, or biting their tongues, that is, not saying what they want and perhaps need to say?

Trading In Yourself?

Do you like who you are? Would you ever trade in yourself for someone else?

Peer pressure got some people doing, saying, and believing that who they are is not good enough. That they have to change themselves into something or someone “better”.

If you are passive, become aggressive. If you are not in with the “in crowd”, join them. If you are not following some brain-washed latest fad, begin to follow.  If you are not going with the party-let-us-have-fun crowd, get your fun shoes on. If you suffer from low self-esteem, this is how to get a new you, in just what ever amount of days. I am amazed sometimes that some people see themselves as being not good enough; that they live by the crap from wherever they are hearing, seeing, or watching it from. And thus, time to exchange who they are for what the world defines as “something better”.

Who and what defines how you create who you want to be? The covers of magazines? The advice columns in some newspapers? What is on the internet? Some self-help gurus? The Bible? God? Religion? Friends? Entertainers? Blah, blah, blah.

I might not like everything about me, but I like who I am. :) And you?

“Reshaping life! People who can say that have never understood a thing about life—they have never felt its breath, its heartbeat—however much they have seen or done. They look on it as a lump of raw material that needs to be processed by them, to be ennobled by their touch. But life is never a material, a substance to be molded. If you want to know, life is the principle of self-renewal, it is constantly renewing and remaking and changing and transfiguring itself.” from Doctor Zhivago by Boris Pasternak

Yeah, that is what some people want the most from others.

Sacrifice For Love?

Have you ever seen The Lord of The Rings movie? At first, I didn’t like this movie (I still prefer the book) but I have grown to appreciate it. In the movie are two characters, Aragon and Arwen.

Arwen: Do you remember what I told you?

Aragon: You said you’d bind yourself to me, forsaking the immortal life of your people.

Arwen: And to that I hold. I would rather share one lifetime with you than face all the ages of this world alone.

She gave up living forever to be with the man she loves. How romantic or foolish? Which brings me to the reason I am writing this, is love about sacrifice?

That is from a book and fantasy; although, some have done it. Jesus did it for all humans. “Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. . . .” John 10 vs 17 – 18

What are you willing to give up for love?

My entry on 1o January, 2011.  Added the words for love to the title.

Nice, nasty people

“One of the worst things about life is not how nasty the nasty people are. You know that already. It is how nasty the nice people can be.” from A Dance In The Music Of Time by Anthony Powell
