We are not communicating here

How do we communicate with each other? Does the level of communication show us what is the value of the relationship(s)?

People do not talk with each other the way they used to. I know this is not always the case, but it feels that in our fast paced world, overly used phrase but appropriate, that having not enough time, desire or the need has stick its way in and the quality of a relationship tends to be downgraded.

A quick hello is not communication. One person sending an email, text, letter or what have you and not getting a reply is not communication. I have said this before and I will say it again, People Need To Be Talk With, Not Talk To.

Communication?

[Kauser Franz Joseph und Elisabeth Wiener Porzelan]

People notice, and sometimes they want what they are seeing in others.

“Somehow he felt unable to be indignant or protest, although some sort of joke had certainly been played upon him. There was nothing remote or mysterious here–only something private. The only secret was the ancient communication between two people. But the memory of the woman’s waiting silently by the cold hearth, of the man’s stubborn journey a mile away to get fire, and how they finally brought out their food and drink and filled the room proudly with all they had to show, was suddenly too clear and too enormous within him for response . . . .” from Death of a Traveling Salesman by Eudora Welty
