History – Read Between The Lines

Events of the past open to motives.

What Went Wrong?

I was given a set of books to read and, seeing that I do not have time to read them, I decided to browse. A lot of history is included in these books. But what got me was the sense of community, sharing, caring, respect, and the overall sense of togetherness.

And then I wondered, What went wrong? Where did those things go? I know they are still here, in my opinion, not in the abundance that they were before. Do not get me wrong, I am not naive to think or believe that all was well back in the day, but still, things were “well”.

Some quote that it takes a village to raise a child, but what if the village is being destroyed? Some say that it takes hard work to get things done, but what if that has been erased and replaced with laziness? What are we impregnating ourselves with? What are we birthing?

Sometimes I can be such an old soul in a young person, but things, or rather life, seemed much more focused.

Somewhere around the world someone is having a birthday. Happy Birthday. πŸ™‚

Twenty minutes to nine

I am presently reading Great Expectations by Charles Dickens and, in the book, there is a person named Miss Havisham. Now she was a woman that time stopped still for because she allowed it to. So far I have learned that she was to be married but something happened and therefore she was not. The time was twenty minutes to nine and, it was that for her for a very, very long time.

How many of us allow time to stand still? Whether it was something good or bad that happened, how many of us refused to let that moment go. Always reliving the past in the present that clouds the future.

Some people live in the “remember whens” of life, and sometimes, like quicksand, they get stuck and begin to go under. No one can live in the same glory of a moment forever. No one can live in the same sad moment forever. Well no one should; and this is not to say that we should not remember those times, but to say, not to get bog down in them. Move on. Let your twenty minutes to nine go.

It is for keeps?

“You can clutch the past so tightly to your chest that it leaves your arms to full to embrace the present.” Jan Gildewel

“The more anger towards the past you carry in your heart, the less capable you are of loving in the present.” Barbara De Angelis

Leaving THEN behind

But first.

“By them shall the fowls of the heaven have their habitation, which sing among the branches.” Psalm 104 vs 12

This week, as with so many other weeks, God has bless me with a choir of birds. Every morning I hear them singing at my window. So amazing. πŸ™‚

And last night, thunder, lightning, and rain. What did I do? I went out and spun around in the rain.

“You’ve got to get yourself together, You’ve got stuck inΒ  moment and now you can’t get out of it, Don’t say that later will be better, now you’re stuck in a moment, And you can’t get out of it.” from the song, Stuck In A Moment by U2

Broken relationships. Angry words. Wounds, scars that wouldn’t heal. A terrible mistake. Something of terrible significance. So many things that some people never leave behind. Somehow they’re stuck in the then, the time when these things happened, and they refuse to move on, refuse to heal. They never reach the later in their lives because for whatever reason they’re stuck.

I’ve been there, but I refuse to stay there. Pain comes with healing, and we heal in our own time. But how long is too long to get over something? Days? Months? Years? A lifetime?

Life comes with its negatives but we must remember . . .

This song makes me want to get all dress up and go singing. “And I’m feeling gooooood.” πŸ˜†

Have a great weekend everyone. πŸ™‚

A thing from the past

You talk some in small circles and then, you write some for the masses. That’s what came to mind while listening to a program about some historical events that took place in my country’s history. We don’t document a lot of it.

Take that and apply it to life, we all have a past. Yes, some good and bad, but what do we do with it?
